Galadima begins Adamawa APC guber primary on strong footing as supporters flood voting centres
The governorship ambition of Tijjani Ahmed Galadima received a major boost on Thursday as thousands of supporters reportedly stormed various voting centres across Adamawa State in a show of solidarity ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election holding today.
Across several local government areas, party faithful and supporters of the frontline aspirant gathered as early as dawn.
Our reporter described the atmosphere in many of the centres as energetic and carnival-like, with supporters expressing optimism that the former Executive Secretary would emerge victorious in the keenly contested primary election.
Reports monitored from different parts of the state indicated that Galadima’s supporters maintained a visible presence around designated voting locations, while APC delegates and stakeholders arrived to participate in the exercise expected to determine the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.
It is believed that the early momentum recorded by Galadima may not be unconnected to the growing wave of endorsements and political realignments that have strengthened his position within the party in recent days.
In what many party members have described as a major political development ahead of the primaries, no fewer than three prominent governorship aspirants; Comrade Mustapha Salihu, Bello Ibrahim Thul and Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar, stepped down from the race and declared support for Galadima.
The trio not only endorsed his ambition but also directed their supporters and political structures across the state to work for his emergence at the primaries, a development many observers believe significantly altered the dynamics of the contest.
The endorsement by influential aspirants is being viewed within political circles as a sign of growing consensus among sections of the APC in Adamawa seeking a united front ahead of the general election.
Supporters at some of the centres described Galadima as a bridge-builder capable of repositioning the APC in the state and challenging the dominance of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“This crowd shows the acceptance he enjoys among party members. People believe he has the capacity, experience and connections needed to lead the party to victory,” one supporter at a voting centre in Yola said.
Security personnel were also seen stationed around strategic locations to maintain law and order as delegates queued to participate in the exercise.
