200 Beneficiaries Get 2025 Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation's Tertiary Education Scholarship

No fewer than 200 students in various tertiary institutions across 19 Northern Nigerian states, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja have been awarded the 2025 Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation's scholarship.

Beneficiaries, ten from each state of Northern Nigeria and FCT,  were selected through an online portal accessible by qualified candidates undergoing different courses, particularly in medicine and sciences in universities.

At a ceremony in Kaduna on Wednesday where beneficiaries were presented with scholarship certificates, Chairman Board of Trustees of the foundation, former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu said the annual gesture was initiated to promote and develop medicine and science related courses in Northern.

While vowing to support the educational pursuits of the less privileged, Aliyu called on Governors of Northern States to emulate the passion and commitment of the late Ahmadu Bello for education and welfare of the people.

He decried poor number of Northern students studying medicine and sciences in universities, saying the trend must be checkmated by well-meaning stakeholders from the region for growth and development.

A beneficiary, Musa Adamu, while commending the kind and philanthropic gesture of the foundation, said the scholarship would go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the beneficiaries on campus.

Another beneficiary, Esther Dogara stated that the scholarship was timely, at a time students could not afford to shoulder the need and responsibilities of their education due to increment in tuition fees across tertiary institutions.
