NWPA Warns Against Distractions Targeting Accountant General
The Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, has received the backing of the NWPA amidst alleged plots to force her out before her retirement in March 2025. The group urged her to stay focused and resist distractions.
During an interactive session in Abuja, NWPA spokesperson Mrs. Christine Ezekwe condemned what she described as a "relentless campaign of misinformation" targeting Madein. She said such attacks undermine national stability and good governance.
The group lauded President Tinubu for his decision to let Madein complete her tenure. "This is a demonstration of visionary leadership and respect for institutional continuity," Ezekwe stated.
NWPA also criticized media reports alleging victimization of a Director in Madein's office. They highlighted the importance of routine postings in enhancing efficiency and professional growth.
In the words of Mrs Ezekwe , “when has routine posting become a crime that posting A Director to a strategic institute where public servants are trained, molded into professional bureaucrats became a witch hunt? We are very sure that Mr Shamselden Babatunde Ogunjimi was giving an assigned responsibility to impact on the system, groom civil servants for effective service delivery and contribute his quota to the development of the country ”
“Claiming that the accountant General did not proceed on terminal leave is a desperation whose purpose time and season would uncover. we are all here a few months ago when our beloved sister and the immediate past Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Yemi-Esan stayed in the office peacefully until her retirement date. Why did this group of desperadoes not sponsor media reports then?”
“With three months to the retirement of Mrs Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein as Accountant General of the Federation those longing to occupy her position as their life time dreams should show a strong sense of maturity by waiting patiently for her to exit before they can takeover the position, if appointed ”
The group appealed to the Accountant General to remember she is an ambassador of the Nigerian woman and go about her duty passionately to actualise the dreams of President Bola Tinubu’s promise to give renewed hope to Nigerians in line with his renewed agenda.
The group concluded by calling on the AGF to continue her work with diligence and assured her of their unwavering support. "The Nigerian public service needs leaders like her to deliver on key reforms," Ezekwe emphasized.
