SWAN Maina Kaduna Media Badminton Tournament Begins August 23

The maiden edition of the  Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Dr. Mohammed Maina Media Badminton Tournament is expected to be held August 23 to 24, 2024.

A statement signed by the Secretary SWAN Kaduna State Chapter, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson made available on Tuesday August 20, said that the tournament is billed for Exclusive Badminton Club, Kaduna State University Kaduna (KASU), Kaduna.


"Preparations are in top gear for this competition that would feature media houses. Already, registerarion at the cost of N5,000 for each media house within Kaduna metropolis is ongoing," it said. 

The statement urged those that are yet to register to do so before the commencement of the games, as mouth watering prices will be presented to the winners.

It informed that the tournament will feature two cattegories,  Veteran singles  and Veteran doubles.




"It is being organised in honour of Vice President, Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Dr. Mohammed Maina," it added.

Meanwhile, SWAN will during the closing ceremony, present awards to some personalities who have Distinguished themselves in the area of sports development.

The award recipients include, President SWAN,  Isaiah Kemje Benjamin,   Commissioner of Sports Development  Kaduna State, Professor Ben Gugong and Dr. Mohammed Maina, Chairman Kaduna State Badminton Association who is also the  Vice President Badminton Federation of Nigeria 


Others are,   National President Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Yerima Shettima, who is also a philanthropist and 
SWAN chairman Kaduna State Chapter.
